Lyons comes to Detroit after most recently spending a portion of the 2017 preseason with the Rams, where he appeared in one game. Entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Tusculum College with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015.

COLLEGE

Saw action in 41 Career games with 32 starts for the Tusculum Pioneers from 2011-14. Compiled 181 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 13. sacks, four pass defenses, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one interception during that time. In 2014, Lyons recorded 10 or more tackles on four occasions, including a career-high 15 stops against Carson-Newman.   He finished the season with single season career highs in tackles (89), tackles for loss (19, the most ever by a defensive lineman in a single season in school history) and sacks (9).

  • Named first-team All-South Atlantic Conference and first-team DII All-American by College Football USA.
  • Honored as one of eight national finalists for the Gene Upshaw Award his senior year, which recognizes the top NCAA Division II lineman in the country.
  • Named a national finalist for the Cliff Harris Award in 2014, which honors the top small college defensive player of the year for NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA.

Son of son of Calvin Turner, Jr. and Shikeisha Lyons. Attended Woodland High School (Stockbridge, Ga.).
