Hanson now joins Hal off Famers T Jackie Slater (Los Angeles Rams: 20) and CB Darrell Green (Washington: 20) for the most seasons played for the team that originally drafted them. He is ninth in the NFL in scoring with 119 points.
- When Hanson connected on his fourth PAT of the game vs. San Diego (12/24), it gave him 49 on the season breaking the club record for PATs in a season, surpassing his own team record of 48 set in 1995. With 5 total PATs in the game, Hanson now has 50 PATs this year and is the first player in team history to reach that mark in a season.
- The Lions' season opener against the Buccaneers (9/11) marked Hanson's 296th career game, the most among active players. He ties Hall of Fame C Bruce Matthews for the most games played with one team in NFL History. His 296 games also ties him with Matthew's for eighth on the NFL's all-time career games played list.
- Hanson finished with 9 points (2 field goals and 3 PATs), moving his career tally to 1,899.
- Playing in the home opener vs. Kansas City (9/18) marked Hanson's 297th career-game, setting an all-time NFL record for the most games played by one player for one team. He surpassed Hall of Fame C Bruce Matthews who played 296 games for the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans.

- Kicked the game winning 32-yard field goal in overtime at Minnesota (9/25). It was the 18th time in his career that he has made a game-winning kick in the fourth quarter or in over time, and it was his eighth game-winning kick in overtime. He was 4-for-4 on field goal attempts, making field goals of 28, 50, 40 and 32 yards. It was the 23rd time in his career he has made four field goals in a game. His 50-yarder extended his NFL record of 50-yard field goals to 47.
- He made 3 late field goals against the Vikings, with the first, a 50-yarder, with 5:20 left to play. He made 2 field goals in the fourth quarter and overtime to take the lead (40-yard, 2:30 in the fourth) and the game-winner (32 yards with 13:01 to play in OT). His 50-yarder tied the game at 20-20 with 5:20 left to play in regulation.
- 14 points in the overtime win (4 FG, 2 PAT) mark the 17th time in his career that he has recorded 14-or-more points in a game. It is the fourth time in his career he has scored 10+ points in three consecutive games during his career (2007, 1994, 1993).
- His 51-yarder in the fourth quarter against the Cowboys pushed the Lions comeback to a three-point deficit with 4:22 left to play. The 51-yarder extends his NFL record to 48. He has now also made 3 50-yard field goals this year, each on the past three games. It is the 10th time in his career he has made 3 for 50-yard field goals. It is also the first time in his career that he has hit 50-yarder in three-straight games.
- In the Lions 24-13 win vs. Chicago (10/10), Hanson became the first player in NFL history to player 300 career games with one team and he is the eighth player in NFL history to play 300 career games.
- Connected on two-of-three field goals for 25 and 24 yards respectively vs. San Francisco (10/16) also made booth PATs in the game.
- Played in his 302nd game vs. Atlanta (10/23). He is now tied with QB Brett Favre and K Matt Stover for sixth place on the NFL’s career games played list. He is behind Hall of Fame T Jackie Slater 20 with L.A. Rams) and Hall of Fame CB Darrell Green (20 with Washington Redskins). He is also 11th overall in League history in career games. On the season, he was 3-of-4 (.750) on 50-yard attempts and 7-of-9 (.778) on 40+-yard attempts.
- Connected on 2-of-2 PATs in season opener at Chicago (9/12).
- Was 3-of-3 on PATs and connected on a 49-yard field goal vs. Philadelphia (9/19) in the second quarter to put the Lions ahead, 10-7.

2009: Made 21 of 28 field goals (.750) he attempted. After a pre-season knee procedure kept him out of action for a few weeks, his leg strength progressed well each week. He was credited with a special teams tackle against Seattle (11/8).
- Connected on two field goals of 47 and 24 yards respectively in season opener at New Orleans (9/13). Also added three extra point kicks.
- Hanson has now connected on 33-of-34 field goals dating back to 2007. His 96.8 field goal percentage through the past 21 games a league best.
- Connected on two field goals of 30 and 48 yards vs. Minnesota (9/20) and added a PAT. Hanson has now connected on 30-of-31 field goals dating back to 2007. His 96.8 field goal percentage through the past 21 games a league best.
- Hanson moved into second place on the Lions all-time list for consecutive field goals made with 20 straight successful field goals dating back to the Lions' game at Carolina November 16, 2008. Hanson surpassed K Eddie Murray's streak of 19 that he had during the 1988-89 season. His streak ended in the third quarter when his 49-yard attempt was no good.
- Hanson registered an NFL record for consecutive field goals made (24) of 40+yards. Prior to his 49-yard miss vs. Pittsburgh (10/11), he made his previous 24 kicks from 40-49 and 50+ yards. His streak started on Thanksgiving Day vs. Green Bay 11/22/07.
- Played in his 279th game at Seattle (11/8) which is a Lions franchise record. Hanson connected on 2-of-3 field goals in the game for 41 and 50 yards respectively.

2008: Named special teams' captain for second consecutive year. On the season, he is tied for a league-high four 50-yard field goals this season, which is also a career single-season high.
- At Atlanta (9/7), Hanson made three extra points.
- Against Green Bay (9/14), Hanson connected on three field goals from 38, 49 and 53 yards out. His 53-yarder marked his 34th career 50-yard field goal. He remains fourth on the NFL's all-time list.
- Connected on two 54-yard field goals at Houston (10/19) and now ranks third among kickers in NFL history. It was also the third time in his career that he's connected on two 50-yard field goals in a game. He became the eight player in NFL history to kick two 50-yard field goals in a game three times.
- Connected on a 52-yard field goal and two PATs at Chicago (11/2). With five points he moved his career total to 1,702 and he moved past Hall of Fame K Jan Stenerud for ninth place on the NFL's all-time career scoring list. He is also the ninth player with 1,700 points. The 52-yarder he nailed against the Bears was his 38th career 50-yarder that moved him into a tie for second-place for the most career 50-yard field goals in NFL history. It also marked Hanson's fifth 50-yarder this season, a career-high and franchise-high. Hanson is the oldest kicker in NFL History with five 50-yarders in a season.
- At Carolina (11/16) Hanson's day included a 56-yard field goal, which tied his own franchise record for longest field goal in team history that was set vs. Cleveland (10/8/95) at the Silverdome. The 56-yarder is a franchise record for the longest field goal made on the road and during an outdoor game. Hanson now has 39 career 50-yard field goals, which moved him in sole possession of second place on the all-time career 50-yard field goals list. He is one shy of the all-time record held by Morten Andersen, who has 40.
- He also became the oldest kicker (age: 38, 152 days) in NFL history to make a field goal of 56+ yards, surpassing Morten Andersen (59 yards at age 35 and 127 days).
- With his 56-yarder, Hanson now is 6-for-6 this season on 50-yard attempts. By making 6 50-yard field goals in a season, Hanson becomes the eighth player in NFL history to register 6 50-yard field goals in a single season.
- Additionally, by recording 10 points in Sunday's game against the Panthers,, Hanson moved past Nick Lowery (1,711) for eighth place on the NFL's career scoring list. Hanson now has 1,714 career points.
- Nailed a 53-yard field goal in the first quarter vs. Tennessee (11/27) his 40th career 50-yard field goal. The 53-yarder tied Hanson with K Morten Anderson, also with 40, for the most career 50-yard field goals in NFL history.
- The 53-yard field goal on Thanksgiving vs. Tennessee was his seventh 50-yard field goal on the season, and he become just the second player in NFL history to kick seven 50-yard field goals in a single season (other was Morten Andersen, 8, in 1995 with Atlanta).
2007: Hanson began his 16th season with the Lions at Oakland (9/9), marking the franchise record for most seasons with the team. He was also named the 2007 special teams captain. He converted a league-high 14 kicks from beyond 40 yards, with 11 from 40-49 yards. It also marks the third time in his career (1998 and 1999) that he has nailed 10 kicks from 40-49 yards in a season.
- At Oakland (9/9), Hanson continued his consecutive field goal streak from the 2006 season by making his two attempts from 46 yards and one from 23 yards. He also tacked on three extra points to lead the team in scoring with 12 points.
- Against Minnesota (9/16), Hanson made two field goals, including the game winner in overtime (his 17th career game winning kick), and two extra points. Hanson kicked off overtime by forcing the Vikings to make a touchback, and then sealed the game with his 37 yard kick in the extra period. With his first made kick of the game, Hanson pushed his streak to 18 consecutive field goals made, tied for the second longest streak of his career. He also contributed a touchdown saving special teams tackle.
- At Philadelphia (9/23), Hanson made three extra points.
- Hanson contributed seven points (4 PAT, 1 FG) against Chicago (9/30). Both of his misses (1 FG, 1 PAT) were due to blocks.
- Against Tampa Bay (10/21), Hanson led the Lions in scoring with three field goals (34, 42, 32) and two extra points.
- At Chicago (10/28), Hanson had a historic day, scoring 10 points (three field goals, one extra point) in the Lions victory. One of his field goals was a 52-yard field goal at the end of the first half, his longest at Soldier Field in his 16-year career. Hanson's 52-yard kick was also his longest field goal made on grass since he hit a 53-yard at Denver in 2003 (9/28). It was also his 31st career field goal of 50 yards or more, and the longest field goal the Lions have ever made on the road vs. the Bears. Hanson also helped execute an intricate game plan on kickoffs that held explosive Bears returner Devin Hester to 20 yards on one return.
- By making 3 field goals at Chicago, Hanson became the seventh player in NFL history to record 50 games of 3+ field goals.
- With his second field goal of the day against Denver (11/4), a season-long 53-yarder (and 32nd 50+ yard field goal), Hanson moved into 11th place on the NFL all-time scoring list. Hanson passed former Lions K Eddie Murray (1,594, 1980-91) to move into 11th. He finished the day with 14 points and became the 11th player in NFL history to score 1,600 career points.
- With his third field goal of the day against Denver, Hanson has now recorded three field goals in three straight games for the first time since 1993, when he had four straight games with 3 field goals (10/17 vs. Sea; 10/24 at LARm; 10/31 at Min; 11/7 vs. TB).
- With three points at Arizona (11/11), he moves into a tie with Lou Groza for 10th place on the NFL's all-time scoring list with 1,608 points.
- Hanson's four points against the New York Giants (11/18) moved him into sole possession of 10th place on the NFL's all-time scoring list. His only miss on the day, from 52-yards, was blocked.
- Hanson's four field goals (47, 41, 45, 52) vs. Green Bay (11/22) marked the first time in his career he has hit four field goals that were all longer than 40 yards. This feat has not been accomplished by a Lions kicker since at least 1970.

2006: Hanson finished the season tied for third in the NFL with 29 field goals made (including the last 14 he attempted), tied for second with three 50-yarders and tied for sixth in the NFL (third in the NFC) in points among kickers with 117 points this season. He was 29-of-33 (.879) this year on field goal attempts, and ranked 10th with an 87.9 field goal percentage. For the fifth time, he was selected the team's Yale Lary Special Teams MVP. He started the season through Week 2 only 2-of-4 on field goal attempts, but after then he connected on 23-of-25 attempts (.920). Hanson was quite effective on kickoffs in addition to his success on field goals. He ranked fifth in the league in kickoff distance average (66.9) and tied for fifth with 13 touchbacks. The 15-year veteran was the only kicker in the league ranked in the Top 5 in field goals made and average kickoff distance.
- Hanson ranked first among all active kickers after the 2006 season with a minimum of at least 100 attempts in both field goals from 0-39 yards with a 96.3 percentage (236-of-245) and 0-49 yards with an 87.2 percentage (326-of-374).
- Among kickers all-time, Hanson ranks third amongst those with over 400 attempts with an 81.5 percentage (356-of-437).
- Hanson's 29 field goals this season tie him for second in Lions single-season history, and his 117 total points tie him for fifth all-time in Lions scoring in a single-season.

- By recording his 10th touchback of the season vs. Minnesota (12/10), K Jason Hanson became the second kicker since 1994 (the first year kickoffs were moved back to the 30-yard line and the kicking tee lowered) to record 10 touchbacks on kickoffs in a single season as a NFL veteran of 15 or more seasons. The other kicker was Morten Andersen who accomplished this feat in his 15th (1996), 16th (1997), 17th (1998) and 19th (2000) career seasons. Hanson has the most seasons (11) of 10-or-more touchbacks since 1994.

2005: Continued to be a steady presence on the team throughout 2005 despite suffering a hamstring injury early on in the season. Finished the season 17th on the NFL's all-time scorers list with 1,420 points.
- Connected on a 21-yard field goal vs. Green Bay (9/11) to bring his consecutive field goal streak to 16.
- Was inactive vs. Chicago (9/18) due to a hamstring injury, breaking a streak of 209 consecutive games played.
- Connected on 2 field goal attempts (23, 44) at Tampa Bay (10/2) after recovering from a hamstring injury.
- Despite connecting on 2 field goal attempts (52, 25), saw his consecutive field goal steak end at 18 vs. Carolina (10/16) when the Panthers blocked a 47-yard attempt.
- Had his first game winning field goal of the season at Cleveland (10/23), a 50-yard kick in the fourth quarter. Connected on 2-of-3 attempts (47, 50).

2004: Set the franchise all-time games played mark when he played in his 201st-career game at Jacksonville. He tied Wayne Walker's all-time games played total when he appeared in his 200th-straight contest vs. Washington (11/7).
- Converted his 400th career PAT in the second quarter at Dallas (10/31), becoming only the 29th player in NFL history to accomplish the feat.
- Scored all of the Lions points vs. Indianapolis (11/25), splitting the uprights from 20, 34 and 32 yards out.

- Recipient of the Yale Lary Special Teams Player of the Year Award for the fourth time in his career. Named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for November after making 12-of-13 attempts, including two game-winners (vs. Chicago 11/9; vs. Green Bay 11/27).
- Started the season converting on 13 straight field goal attempts, the most consecutive field goals he has made to begin a season in his career.
- Had a then-season-long 53-yard field goal at Denver (9/28), which put him in third place all-time in the NFL with 23 kicks of over 50 yards.
- Stepped in to take care of the punting duties in place of the injured John Jett at San Francisco (10/5), punting seven times for 264 yards (37.7 avg) in the game.
- Tallied 11 points vs. Oakland (11/2), converting on all three field goal and two extra point attempts, including a season-long 54-yard field goal in the first quarter, making him only the third player in NFL history with 24 field goals of over 50 yards.
- Kicked four field goals vs. Chicago (11/9), including a 48-yard game-winner with 39 seconds remaining in the game, and earned NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors. His game-winner was the 13th of his career and it was the 275th field goal of his career. The game against the Bears was the 185th of his career, moving him into a tie for second place on the Lions all-time list with Dick LeBeau.
- Became just the 25th player in NFL history with 1,200 career points after converting both extra point attempts at Minnesota (11/23).
- Had one of his most productive games as a pro vs. Green Bay (11/27), converting on all five of his field goal attempts and an extra point for 16 points on the day, the most he has recorded since he scored 19 on October 19, 1999 vs. Minnesota. It was the third time he recorded five-or-more field goals in a game and the 16th time he had more than four. His third field goal vs. the Packers was the eventual game-winner, his 14th career game-winner in either the fourth quarter or overtime.
- With two extra points at Carolina (12/21), tied Eddie Murray for first on the Lions' all-time list with 381 for his career.
- Went 3-for-3 in field goal attempts vs. St. Louis (12/28), converting from 39, 38 and 50 yards out. His 50-yard field goal was the 25th of his career of 50 yards and over and his fourth of the season, tying a career-high. With his three extra points against the Rams, he took sole possession of first place on the Lions' all-time list and now has 384.
2002: Tied former Lions' kicker Eddie Murray for the most career field goals in franchise history after kicking four field goals against New Orleans (9/29) and with a 49-yard field goal in the third quarter at Minnesota (10/13) he became the all-time single leader in field goals in franchise history.
- Named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts vs. Chicago (10/20) after he kicked a 48-yard game-winning field goal vs. Chicago (10/20) to finish the day with 11 points (three FGs, two PATs) and a special teams tackle.
- Kicked a 43-yard game-winning field goal with 48 seconds left against Dallas (11/3) and accounted for all of the Lions' points against the Cowboys (3/3 FG).
- Became the Lions' all-time leading scorer with a 45-yard field goal in the second quarter vs. New England (11/28) and scored the Lions' only offensive points while going 4-of-4.
2001: Tied a career-high with four field goals of over 50 yards.
- Collected his 1,000th career point with first extra point at Arizona (11/18)
- Kicked season-long field goal (54 yards) along with a 33-yarder and a PAT vs. Green Bay (11/22). The 54-yarder made Hanson the 20th player in NFL history to kick 20 or more 50-yard field goals.
2000: Productive on kickoffs, recording 10 touchbacks, forced 17 drives to begin inside 20-yard line and teamed with superb cover unit to lead NFL in opponent's average drive start (25.1 yard-line).
- Finished the season by nailing 11-of-12 final field goals in Games 10-16, including his final nine attempts.
- Enjoyed a huge game vs. Washington (9/10), connecting on all five of his field goal tries and accounting for all 15 of Lions' points in the win which earned him NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.. Among the kicks he made in that game was a 54-yarder in the third quarter (tied for third-longest in team history) and a 37-yarder in the fourth quarter, which was the 200th field goal of his career.
- Made game-winning (seventh of career) 44-yard field goal, with 1:43 left to play fourth quarter, in Lions' 13-10 win vs. Atlanta (11/12), and added another 18-yarder in fourth quarter.
- Made second (17th of career) 50+-yarder (52 yards) field goal of season at Minnesota (11/30), and reached the 300-extra point mark in his career.
- Booted a critical 35-yard field goal in third quarter at New York Jets (12/17) in sloppy conditions at the Meadowlands in a tightly-fought 10-7 Lions' win.
1999: Named to his second career NFC Pro Bowl squad (also following 1997).
- Voted by teammates as the Yale Lary Special Teams MVP as well as the 1999 Detroit Lions Man of the Year.
- Named first-team All-NFC by both Pro Football Weekly and Football News after he made an NFC-high 26-of-32 field goal attempts, including career-high four of 50+-yards.
- All six of Hanson's misses were from 46 yards-or-longer in 1999, including a 57-yard attempt at Arizona (11/14) and a 58-yard try at Minnesota (1/2).
- Garnered NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for October after converting on 10-of-11 attempts.
- Both of his late-game field goals in first two wins of the season gave the Lions a key eight-point lead in final minutes – a 49-yarder at Seattle (9/12) with 2:46 remaining and a 48-yard effort vs. Green Bay (9/19) with 2:10 left in the game.
- Enjoyed landmark day vs. Minnesota (10/17) with team-record-tying and career-high six field goals, including game-winning 48-yard effort with seven seconds remaining in the game (sixth game-winner of career), and was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his effort. With six field goals that day, he became one of 17 players in NFL history to accomplish that feat and his seven FG attempts on the day were a career-high as well, in addition to recording career-best 19 points.
- Became 11th player in NFL history to kick two 50+-yarders in the same game twice in his career (also vs. Indianapolis on 11/23/97) after converting from 50 and 52 yards vs. Washington (12/5).
1998: Named as an alternate to the 1999 NFC Pro Bowl squad.
- The Sporting News named him as the NFL's top kicker at the season's midway point
- Made two-or-more field goals in 11 contests, including eight consecutive games (Weeks 3-10).
- Prior to missing two field goals (47 and 43 yards) in Games 12-13, his only misses on the season were a 58-yard attempt in the last minute of play at Philadelphia (11/8) and a 53-yarder in swirling wind at Chicago (10/4).
- Game vs. Pittsburgh (11/26) saw him drill a season-long 51-yarder and resulted in the fifth overtime game-winning kick of his career (first since 1994). A 43-yard miss in the game was his first miss from the 40-49-yard range since the regular season finale in 1996 (16 in a row) and also broke a string of 23 consecutive field goals made from inside 50 yards.
1997: Made his first career Pro Bowl appearance.
- Converted a franchise record 24 straight field goal attempts en route to making 26-of-29 tries on the season (then-career-high .897). He hit the upright on his first field goal try of the year vs. Tampa Bay (9/7) from 52 yards out and didn't miss again until a 50-yard attempt at Minnesota (12/14).
- Became the first Lion to kick two field goals of 50 yards-or-longer in the same game with efforts of 52 and 55 yards vs. Indianapolis (11/23).
- Converted a career-high seven PATs in Lions' Thanksgiving Day win over Chicago (11/27).
- Had his streak of consecutive PATs broken at 126 at Miami (12/7).
1996: Attempted only four field goals in eight-game stretch in middle of the year, making three of them -- one each in games at Green Bay (11/3), vs. Seattle (11/17) and vs. Kansas City (11/28). His 43-yard effort vs. Seahawks with 4:43 remaining proved to be the game-winner.
- Most prolific game of season came vs. Minnesota (12/8) when he drilled a season-high three field goals (30, 31 and 48-yarders) in a season-high four attempts (missing from 48 yards wide right).
1995: NFC's top scorer among kickers with team-record 132 points (tied for second in the NFL) and was named as the alternate on the 1996 NFC Pro Bowl squad.
- With 48 extra points, he broke Eddie Murray's club record of 46 PATs set in 1981.
- Named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his four-of-four field goal effort (plus four touchbacks on kickoffs) in Detroit's win over San Francisco (9/25).
- Only effort vs. Cleveland (10/8) was record-breaking 56-yarder, in addition to making all five PATs.
1994: Set an NFL record with three game-winning overtime kicks.
- Booted a 37-yarder in overtime to win the season-opener vs. Atlanta (9/4), despite a severely bruised shin on his kicking leg (injured making game-saving tackle on kickoff after Lions' tying TD).
- Kicked his second game-winning field goal of the season, a 44-yarder in overtime, at Dallas (9/19).
- Kicked his third game-winning field goal of the season, a 24-yarder in overtime, at N.Y. Giants (10/30).
- Played instrumental role in victory at N.Y. Jets (12/10) -- was successful on 4-of-4 field goal attempts (37, 49, 48 and 23 yards) in rainy and windy conditions at the Meadowlands.
1993: Led the NFC in scoring with then-team-record 130 points (second in the NFL) and his 34 field goals also set a Lions' record and fell one short of the then-NFL record for most field goals in a season.
- Connected on three-or-more field goals eight times, with the Lions winning all eight contests.
- Named All-Pro by the Sporting News, earned NFC Special Teams Player of the Month honors for October and December and was the Lions' Special Teams MVP for the first time in his career.
