PRO: Bullocks rebounded from season-ending knee injury in 2007 to set a career-high with 121 tackles last season, which was the third-most on the team and the most among Lions defensive backs. He enters his fourth NFL season looking to breakout as one of the league’s best young safeties as he brings athleticism and intensity to the defensive backfield. Bullocks was Detroit’s second round pick (40th overall) in the 2006 NFL Draft, and finished his rookie season with 70 tackles (52 solo), seven special teams tackles and seven pass defenses. He was slated as the starter at free safety prior to his injury during the 2007 preseason after making seven starts at strong safety during his rookie season in 2006.

MANE FACTS: Former teammate of his twin brother, Josh, who started alongside Daniel as a free safety for Nebraska (2001-04). Josh, who is the younger of the twins by one minute, was selected in the second round (40th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. This past offseason, he signed a free agent contract with the Chicago Bears.

2008: Third on the team with 121 tackles (74 solo). Named the Detroit Lions' 2008 recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award, which recognizes men of courage in the NFL. Award honored Bullocks for his battle back from a serious knee injury in 2007.
• Posted a team leading 14 tackles (11 solo) vs. Green Bay (9/14). It marked his first start since suffering a knee injury in the 2007 Preseason that ended his season.
• Forced a fumble vs. Chicago (10/5) on a WR Devin Hester punt return attempt. It marked the second forced fumble of his career.
• Led the team in tackles with 13 (11 solo) and forced one fumble at Minnesota (10/12).
• Tallied a team-best 13 tackles (six solo) vs. Jacksonville (11/9).
• Led the team in tackles with 12 (eight solo) at Carolina (11/16).
• Returned a fumble recovery 44 yards for a touchdown vs. Tampa Bay (11/23). It was his first career touchdown and the first defensive touchdown for the Lions since last year at Kansas City when DE Dewayne White recovered a fumble vs. Denver (11/4/07).

2007: Bullocks was placed on Reserve/Injured on August 28, 2007 after injuring his knee in the third game of the preseason against Indianapolis (8/25).

2006: Bullocks led all NFC rookie defensive backs (ranked fourth amongst all rookie defensive backs in the NFL) with 70 tackles (52 solo), according to press box statistics.
• Appeared in first NFL game against Seattle (9/10), seeing action on special teams.
• Registered his first tackles of his NFL career, notching six solo tackles on defense and two special teams tackles at Chicago (9/17).
• Bullocks’ first start came at strong safety against Green Bay (9/24) where he recorded six tackles (four solo) and one pass breakup.
• In his second career start, Bullocks registered a season and new career-high eight tackles (six solo) and one pass defensed at St. Louis (10/1).
• Matched his season-high eight tackles (five solo) for the second straight game at Minnesota (10/8).
• Notched six tackles (two solo) and a season-best two pass breakups against Buffalo (10/15).
• Registered a then-career-best nine tackles (seven solo) at the New York Jets (10/22).

COLLEGE: He finished his career with the Huskers ranked second amongst the school’s all-time defensive backs with 226 tackles. 
• As a senior in 2005, Bullocks was the veteran leader and team co-captain of an aggressive Nebraska defensive unit which led the nation in quarterback sacks (46) and tackles for loss (115) and was a consensus second-team All-Big 12 Conference choice and All-American Dream Team selection by The NFL Draft Report.
• Finished second on the squad his senior season with 83 tackles (46 solos), adding four tackles for loss (8 yards), a quarterback pressure, caused two fumbles and recovered another, returning it 30 yards for a touchdown. He also deflected 10 passes and intercepted another for a 12-yard return and blocked a punt that he returned 12 yards.
• All-Big 12 Conference second-team pick by the Dallas Morning News, earning honorable mention from the league’s coaches and Associated Press in his junior season as he started all year at strong safety finishing fourth on the team with 58 tackles (38 solos), a sack (12 yards) and four tackles for loss (19 yards). He also led Nebraska and ranked second in the conference (12th nationally) with five interceptions (187 yards) and had nine pass defenses, forced a fumble and had a fumble recovery which he returned 10 yards for a touchdown.
• Played in every game, starting nine contests at strong safety in his sophomore campaign and finished fourth on the team with 69 tackles (44 solos), tops among the Husker defensive backs. He also had four stops for losses of 5 yards and three quarterback pressures, caused and recovered a fumble, deflected three passes and picked off two others for 11 yards in returns.
• Began his redshirt freshman season as a reserve, but ascended to the top of the depth chart at ‘rover’ by midseason and earned his first career start vs. McNeese State. Moved back to a reserve role after Philip Bland shifted to rover from free safety midway through the season but saw action in 12 games and finished with 16 tackles (five solos) and a forced fumble.

• As a senior, Bullocks was the Player of the Year in Chattanooga by the Times Free Press and was Mr. Tennessee for football in Class 4A.
• In 2000, he rushed for 1,432 yards with 21 touchdowns and passed for 309 yards and five touchdowns. He also caught 10 passes and had 43 tackles as a free safety with four interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
• Earned Class 4A first-team All-State honors, and both he and Josh were named to the Associated Press Tennessee All-Star Team.
• The twins both played in the Tennessee vs. Kentucky All-Star Game, and Daniel earned MVP honors after returning an interception 104 yards for a touchdown in Tennessee’s 30-20 victory.
