Prior to his stint at UTSA, Davis spent time as a defensive intern with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016. He earned his first NFL job with the Miami Dolphins in 2006, spending a season as a defensive line assistant and assistant strength and conditioning coach.

A member of two national championships during his time as a college coach, Davis’ coaching career includes 10 total seasons as a member of Nick Saban’s coaching staffs at Alabama (2007-10, 2014-15) and LSU (2002-05).

In his first stint with Alabama, Davis helped the Crimson Tide go 42-10 over the course of four seasons (2007-10) working as the defensive line coach. During his tenure, Alabama consistently finished in the Top 10 in several defensive statistical categories. His first four years in Tuscaloosa included helping the Crimson Tide earn a 2010 BCS Championship victory over Texas in the Rose Bowl. In 2010, he was part of an Alabama team that finished fourth in the country in scoring defense, fifth in total defense, ninth in rushing defense and seventh in pass efficiency defense, in addition to finishing first in the Southeastern Conference in each respective category.

After four seasons at Alabama, Davis coached the defensive line at Texas from 2011-13 before re-joining Saban’s staff at Alabama from 2014-15. In his final season at Texas in 2013, the Longhorns ranked fifth nationally in sacks (3.1) and 10th in opponent pass efficiency. In 2015, Alabama led the country by allowing just 75.5 yards per game on the ground while ranking third nationally in sacks with 3.53 per contest. The Tide also ranked third in total (276.3 ypg) and scoring (15.1 ppg) defense that season.

Davis began his coaching career in 1995 as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, Louisiana State University. He later returned to LSU from 2002-05 as the assistant strength & conditioning coach. During his tenure, the Tigers won the 2003 BCS Championship with a victory over Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl and also appeared in the 2003 Cotton Bowl, 2005 Capital One Bowl and 2005 Peach Bowl. LSU registered a 41-11 record during that span.
