Burleson suffered a broken forearm in an early-morning car crash Tuesday and Edwards has been dealing with a high ankle sprain since the Arizona game Week 2.
Edwards practiced in limited fashion this week, but was listed as doubtful on Friday’s injury report and that’s led to today’s inactive status.
Broyles, who plays mainly in the slot, played in only 17 snaps last week in Washington, but had three catches for 34 yards. Expect his snaps to increase significantly today with Burleson out.
Durham will get the start for Edwards opposite
The Lions will also look to get greater contributions in the passing game from receiver
"They just have to embrace the role like I have embraced the fact that you’re a complimentary player, you’ll get a few opportunities and make sure those few opportunities are big," Burleson said this week of Broyles, Durham and the other complimentary weapons in the passing game.
"Make them big moments. Just because it’s one or two catches doesn’t mean it doesn’t have to be a splash play. They can’t lean on the fact that Calvin (Johnson) has to make every play. Make sure that they’re ready for every opportunity that comes their way."
With starting running back Reggie Bush back in the lineup today, running back
Fox is inactive for a third-straight game since suffering a groin injury Week 1 vs. Minnesota. He was limited in practice this week and it looks like he’ll need another week before we’re talking about his return to game action.
Hilliard will start again in his place.
