It is shaping up to be a big week for Kyle Van Noy.

Van Noy is set to marry fiancee and former Miss Utah Marrisa Powell this weekend, but first, the Detroit Lions second-round pick put a little money in his pocket by signing his four-year rookie contract Wednesday evening.

Van Noy’s deal is estimated to be worth around $5.1 million with a $2 million signing bonus, per the rookie wage scale.

He’s expected to have an immediate impact for the Lions this year competing for the starting strong side linebacker spot, a versatile and important position in defensive coordinator Teryl Austin’s new defense.

As a senior at BYU last year, Van Noy recorded 67 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, four sacks, two interceptions and a touchdown.

He finished his career with 61.5 tackles for loss, 26 sacks, 21 passes defended, 11 forced fumbles and five touchdowns.

Van Noy's signing leaves only first-round pick (No. 10 overall) Eric Ebron left unsigned from the teams' eight draft selections.
