TWENTYMAN AT THE HALF: Joique Bell filling in nicely for Reggie Bush

Reggie Bush may be inactive with a knee injury, but Joique Bell is performing well through the first half

The biggest question mark heading into today's game was how effective the Lions offense would be without dynamic running back Reggie Bush.

Well, so far so good.

Joique Bell started for Bush and has picked up the slack so far in the first half. Bell has rushed for 39 yards (4.9 average), including a bruising 12-yard touchdown, and has caught two passes for another 48 yards.

That's 87 total yards for a Lions offense that's been efficient the first half with scoring drives of 85, 92 and 66 yards, respectively, and lead 17-14 at the half.

Bell entered the game as one of only three running backs (Matt Forte and Darren Sproles) with 10-plus catches (10) and 100-plus receiving yards (108) coming into the game.

With Bush inactive because of that left knee injury, Bell has filled his role nicely and the Lions are moving the football.

Bell's done his damage in between the hashes with a little more power and a little less speed than Bush does, but it's been effective.
