LIONS INSIDER

PRACTICE REPORT: Reggie Bush and Ziggy Ansah return to practice

Starters Reggie Bush and Ziggy Ansah returned to the practice field today, but the team is still without cornerback Chris Houston

Reggie Bush told reporters Thursday he’d be back on the practice field come Friday. True to his word, the veteran running back took part in the portion of practice open to the media with the rest of his teammates today.

Bush missed last week’s game in Philadelphia with a calf injury, but is expected to play and start Monday night against Baltimore.

Rookie defensive end Ziggy Ansah also returned to practice for the first time since leaving last week’s game with a shoulder injury. Ansah leads the Lions in sacks (7) and is their best edge rusher.

Safeties Louis Delmas (knee) and John Wendling (illness) and defensive end Israel Idonije (knee) also returned to practice after sitting out Thursday.

The Lions were without cornerbacks Chris Houston (toe) and Darius Slay (knee), however, which could challenge the team’s depth at the position.

Rashean Mathis, Jonte Green, Bill Bentley and Chris Greenwood are the only healthy cornerbacks on the active roster right now.
