T Jason Fox returned to the open portion of practice on Wednesday.
Calvin Johnson played 91 percent of the snaps on offense for the Lions last week vs. Cincinnati. Wednesday, the All Pro receiver decided to rest his sore right knee.
Johnson was not at the portion of practice open to the media after coming off a nine-catch, 155-yard performance on Sunday that included two touchdowns.
Johnson did practice on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday last week, but that was coming off a workload of only 38 snaps vs. Cleveland.
Also sitting out practice were starting left tackle Riley Reiff (hamstring) and right tackle Corey Hilliard (hamstring). Both players left Sunday's game due to injury, but Reiff did come back and finish.
The Lions did get some good news on the tackle front, though. Starting right tackle Jason Fox returned to practice for the first time since leaving the Green Bay game Oct. 6 with a knee injury. Fox and rookie LaAdrian Waddle worked with the first-team offense in the absence of Reiff and Hilliard.
Also on the practice field was new tackle Barry Richardson, who the team signed Tuesday.
Defensive tackle Andre Fluellen and safety Louis Delmas were also missing from practice.
Cornerback Rashean Mathis, who left Sunday’s game with a sore groin, did participate.
