The Lions were without DT Nick Fairley, T Jason Fox and S Don Carey for a second consecutive practice

The Lions hit the practice field for the second time this week Thursday morning and did so again without one starter on defense and another on offense.

Defensive tackle Nick Fairley (shoulder) and right tackle Jason Fox (groin) sat out of practice for a second consecutive day.

Also sitting out the portion of practice open to the media was reserve safety Don Carey (hamstring).

It’s unclear when Fairley injured his shoulder because he finished last week’s win over Minnesota. If Fairley can’t go on Sunday, expect C.J. Mosley to step in and start alongside Ndamukong Suh and for the Lions to utilize the multidimensional skills of Jason Jones and Israel Idonije, who can both play inside or outside along the front.

Corey Hilliard would likely get the start in place of Fox and undrafted rookie LaAdrian Waddle would be active as the reserve tackle.

All three players still have Friday to return to practice. The Lions will release their game designations for Sunday in Arizona on Friday at 4 p.m.
