The Lions continued their on-field preparations today for Sunday's game in Chicago and did so for a second consecutive day without starting defensive end Ziggy Ansah.
Ansah injured an ankle vs. Dallas and did not finish the game. He missed Tuesday's bonus practice coming off the bye week and was in a walking boot in the locker room.
The injury is serious enough that the Lions signed veteran defensive end Austen Lane on Tuesday as insurance. Ansah's injury is one to keep a close eye on as the week progresses, but Lane said after practice he would be ready to play Sunday.
The team was also without nickel cornerback Bill Bentley, who left the Dallas game and did not return with a knee injury.
In Bentley's absence, Chris Houston and Darius Slay played on the outside in nickel situations vs. Dallas and veteran Rashean Mathis was moved inside.
Tackle Corey Hilliard (knee), safety Louis Delmas (knee) and linebacker Travis Lewis (ankle) also missed practice.
All Pro receiver Calvin Johnson, coming off a nine-catch, 329-yard performance against Dallas, returned to the practice field after sitting out Tuesday. He was listed as limited on the injury report.
Receiver Nate Burleson (forearm) practiced for a second day in a row, but was also listed as limited.
Safety Glover Quin reappeared on the injury report for the first time in a couple weeks with an ankle injury. He, too, was limited in practice.
