The Detroit Lions made a minor roster move Saturday ahead of before Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, signing receiver Jeremy Ross off the practice squad and releasing tight end Dorin Dickerson.

The Lions signed Dickerson after a workout Monday and were hoping his speed from the tight end position could fit into their offense.

Ross was waived by Green Bay last month after he fumbled in a 34-30 loss to, coincidentally, the Bengals.

The Lions signed him to their practice squad shortly after his release.

Ross is expected to play Sunday with the Lions a bit short-handed at the position with receiver Nate Burleson (forearm) and tight end Tony Scheffler (concussion) already ruled out.

An undrafted free agent out of Cal in 2011, Ross had one catch with the Packers in three games this year and returned six kickoffs for a 12.5 average.

He is not expected to replace Micheal Spurlock as the team's main kick returner on Sunday.
