LaAdrian Waddle's injury-plagued season is over.

The Detroit Lions’ starting right tackle has been placed on injured reserve with a left knee injury he suffered in the third quarter of Sunday’s 16-14 victory over Minnesota.

He was injured when a defender rolled up on his left leg. He couldn’t put any weight on the leg when he eventually got up and was carted off the field.

Lions head coach Jim Caldwell said Waddle’s injury “doesn’t look good” in his press conference on Monday and that’s been confirmed now with the team placing him on injured reserve.

Rookie Cornelius Lucas will likely take Waddle’s spot in the starting lineup. Lucas came in and played well in place of Waddle to finish Sunday's game.

Lucas started one game at left tackle this year, in place of an injured Riley Reiff, and has played a significant amount of snaps at right tackle filling in for Waddle at times.

Waddle injured a calf in the first offensive series of the year and missed the next three games. Lucas saw plenty of action at right tackle during that stint. Waddle also missed the team’s Week 8 game in London due to a concussion. Lucas filled in well there, too, along with veteran Garrett Reynolds.

Waddle's injury shouldn't keep him from being ready to go at the start of training camp in 2015.

The Lions haven't yet indicated how they will fill Waddle's spot on the 53-man roster.
