The Detroit Lions are investigating reports that Detroit Lions center
"We are aware of the reports involving Dominic Raiola and the University of Wisconsin Marching Band," the Lions said in a statement.
"Those reports are extremely inconsistent with the standard of behavior we expect from our players and from every member of our organization.
"We currently are gathering more information and will respond further when appropriate."
According to published reports from accounts from a number of Wisconsin band members, Raiola was verbally abusive to multiple band members, including a female band member.
Allegedly, the insults ranged from obscenities to jokes about weight and sexuality.
Raiola has been the team’s starting center for more than a decade.
He has had issue in the past with conduct towards fans.
He was fined $15,000 by the Lions in 2010 for responding to a fan in Miami with obscene words and a hand gesture, according the Associated Press.
He was also fined $7,500 in 2008 for inappropriate conduct directed toward fans during a loss at home to Minnesota.
According to the report, Lions safety
