Lions add tackle depth to roster

A three-year starter at Ohio State, J.B. Shugarts, will compete for the fourth tackle spot behind Riley Reiff, LaAdrian Waddle and Corey Hilliard

The Detroit Lions lost reserve tackle Jason Fox to the Miami Dolphins this week, but didn’t wait long to fill his roster spot.

The team added depth to their offensive line Thursday by signing tackle J.B. Shugarts after a workout in Allen Park.

Shugarts, who played his college ball at Ohio State, signed with Cleveland as an undrafted free agent in 2012 and spent a brief time on their practice squad. He’s also spent time with Dallas and most recently the New York Jets.

A three-year starter at right tackle at Ohio State, Shugarts, 24, is 6-foot-6, 308 pounds and will compete for the fourth tackle spot behind Riley Reiff, LaAdrian Waddle and Corey Hilliard.
