The Lions have released their second injury report of the week and it includes an extra defensive starter.

Linebacker Ashlee Palmer was added to the injury report Thursday with an ankle injury. He did not practice. Palmer wasn't listed on Wednesday's report.

Starting defensive tackle Nick Fairley (shoulder) and starting right tackle Jason Fox (groin) sat out practice for a second consecutive day.

Reserve safety Don Carey (hamstring) also missed his second practice of the week.

"Anybody that missed today is injury related somehow," head coach Jim Schwartz said after practice.

"We have some guys on Fridays that you guys will see by the way the injury report goes every week that they’re on it every week on Friday because we’re giving guys preemptive rest and stuff like that. If you miss on a Thursday or a Wednesday it’s more because there’s something holding you back rather than planning.

Safety Louis Delmas and defensive end Jason Jones are two names that will likely have most Friday’s off.

"We sort of found out that a lot of times we used to hold guys out with rest on Wednesday. It worked out better for us to do it on Friday closer to the game. Get the work on Wednesday and Thursday if they can. Anything you see on the injury report on a day like this is the guy that couldn’t go through everything."

It’s unclear when Fairley injured the shoulder or if it’s the same shoulder that landed him on injured reserve at the end of last year. He finished last week’s win over Minnesota.

Delmas (knee) and safety John Wendling (ankle) were limited in practice Thursday.

Running back Reggie Bush (finger/groin/knee) and Jones (knee) practiced in full. Jones was a limited participant Wednesday.

The Lions will release their game designations for Sunday’s game in Arizona on at 4 p.m. Friday.
