Running back Reggie Bush and defensive tackle Nick Fairley are questionable to play Sunday in Washington; receiver Patrick Edwards has been ruled out

The Detroit Lions have officially listed running back Reggie Bush as questionable for Sunday’s game in Washington.

Bush was back on the practice field for the first time on Friday, but was listed on the injury report as limited. The team will wait and see how the knee responds to the workload before making a final determination about his availability for Sunday.

Bush took a helmet to his left knee in Sunday’s loss to Arizona. He had a sleeve on the knee at practice Friday, but was running routes and catching passes and it didn’t look like it was bothering him too much.

Why is Bush so valuable to Lions offense? Four of his seven catches and 131 of his 145 receiving yards have come on third down and he’s tied for 10th in the NFL with 10 first downs.

"All of our injured guys are improving," head coach Jim Schwartz said after practice Friday. "It’s encouraging that they are all improving. We will get to Sunday and try to make a good decision based off of what they can accomplish on Sunday and whether they can do their job."

The team has already made the determination that receiver Patrick Edwards will not play. Edwards injured an ankle early in the game last week and could not finish.

Expect second-year receiver Ryan Broyles to be active for the first time this year in Washington to give quarterback Matthew Stafford another weapon in the passing game with Edwards out. Broyles is coming off an ACL tear last December.

The Lions are also likely to be without safety Don Carey (hamstring) and starting right tackle Jason Fox (groin) with both players listed as doubtful. Expect Corey Hilliard to get his second-straight start at right tackle.

Defensive tackle Nick Fairley, who was inactive last week in Arizona with a shoulder injury, is listed as questionable. He was limited in practice all three days this week.

Safety Louis Delmas (knee), defensive end Jason Jones (knee), linebacker Ashlee Palmer (ankle) and guard Rob Sims (knee) are all listed as probable.
