Johnson said he prefers to wait until the entire season is over before he reflects back.
“I wait until the season is over with to address all that,” he said. “I don’t like to get into the numbers and stuff during the season…I reflect on it at the end.”
The Lions will play the Saints in the first round of the playoffs this weekend.
Sunday marked the end of the regular season for the Lions (10-6) and he put an exclamation point on it Sunday in Lambeau.
Johnson was targeted 17 times and caught 11 passes for 244 yards and a touchdown Sunday.
The touchdown was his 16th of he season, which sets a new franchise record for touchdown receptions in a single season and he joins Hall of Famer Barry Sanders (17) and Billy Sims as the only players in franchise history with at least 16 touchdowns in a season.
"Should have thrown it to him on the last play, give him a chance to make it 300 (yards),” said Lions quarterback ![]()
“He's an unbelievable player. He played great for us today, he gutted it out, took some shots, kept playing and made some big plays for us like he does every weekend. He played great and I'm happy for him."
Johnson finished the regular season with career highs in catches (96), yards (1,681) and touchdowns (16).
Across the board, Johnson’s 2011 regular season will go down as one of the greatest seasons a receiver has ever had in the NFL.
Players have had more catches and more yards and more touchdowns, but no one in the history of the league has better numbers in all three categories combined.
It’s no wonder Johnson was voted to his second-straight Pro Bowl as the leading vote-getter among receivers.
Johnson wants to keep his eyes fixed forward to the Lions’ playoff matchup with the Saints next week.
But the regular season he just completed was so good, it’s hard not to take a quick peek back with amazement.
