LIONS INSIDER

BREAKING: DT Nick Fairley among Lions inactives

The Lions will be without talented third-year defensive tackle Nick Fairley today vs. Arizona

The Lions will be without defensive tackle Nick Fairley for today's game in Arizona.

The talented third-year defensive tackle injured his right shoulder last week vs. Minnesota and will be inactive today vs. Arizona. Fairley missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday this week, but returned in a limited capacity on Friday. He was listed as questionable on Friday's injury report.

Fairley missed the last three games of the 2012 season after going on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.

Veteran C.J. Mosley will start in his place.

"I think C.J. Mosley played pretty well last week," defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham said this week. "I was excited. I wish he wouldn't wear (No.) 99, he kind of reminds me of (former Lions DT) Corey (Williams). And they're built the same way, he doesn't say much, he just plays and he had a good game last week. So we have depth there."

The Lions will also be without Ryan Broyles as he's inactive for a second week in a row. Broyles is still trying to get back to 100 percent after tearing an ACL back in December.

"He's really not an injury situation," head coach Jim Schwartz said of Broyles this week. "He's in a situation where he's just working his way back and working his way into the swing of things. He's working really hard. He's making progress all the time. That practice time is very valuable to him. He's going to be a big contributor on our team."

Also inactive for the Lions is right tackle Jason Fox, running back Mikel Leshoure, guard Leroy Harris, safety Don Carey and quarterback Kellen Moore.

Fox, who started at tackle last week, injured his groin after just 15 plays in a win vs. Minnesota last week. Corey Hilliard replaced him in the lineup last week and Hilliard will get the start today.
