DETROIT - Tickets are still available for the 20th annual Detroit Lions Courage House dinner October 1, 2013 at Ford Field. The event will feature Ed Block Courage Award recipient
The evening will begin with a cocktail reception sponsored by Event Link (hor d'oeuvres and open bar) at 6 PM. Dinner will begin at 7 PM and followed by the program which will include the recognition of Burleson and Falb and conclude with keynote speaker, Bill Ford.

Burleson is receiving the Ed Block Courage award, which honors players as they overcome a hardship, for the second time. He also won the award with the Seattle Seahawks in 2009 after recovering from a torn ACL.
Last season at Chicago (10/22), Burleson broke his right leg and was ready for full participation in 2013 Detroit Lions training camp. Through the first three regular season games he lead the team with 19 receptions for 239 yards.
The national Ed Block Courage Award Dinner for NFL recipients from all 32 teams will be held early next year in Baltimore. The award is named in honor of the late Ed Block, former athletic trainer for the Baltimore Colts, who devoted much of his time and money helping abused children.
Former Detroit Lions head athletic trainer Kent Falb will also be honored as the recipient of the Ricky Sandoval Award which recognizes individuals that have made contributions both in sports and in the community. The award is named in honor of the late Lions’ director of security who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in 2009.
Falb was a Lions athletic trainer for 35 years as well as a close friend of Ed Block’s. He’s the executive assistant for the Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society (PFATS) and is on the Ed Block Courage Award Foundation, Inc. National Advisory Board.
