Following an impressive three touchdown Week 6 performance at Cleveland, Lions' rookie TE Joseph Fauria has been nominated for the Pepsi Next NFL Rookie of the Week.

Fauria scored on three receptions for 1, 23 and 10 yards in the Lions' 31-17 win over the Browns, setting a franchise single-game record for touchdown receptions by a tight end. It also marked the first time a Lions tight end registered 2 in a game since TE David Sloan recorded two vs. Cincinnati October 28, 2001.

Fans can vote for Fauria on http://on.nfl.com/1cRbMF6 through Friday at 3 PM EST. The Rookie of the Week will be announced Friday on NFL Total Access on NFL Network and on NFL.com.

  • He also tied a rookie franchise record for touchdown receptions in a game. Fauria became only the second rookie in Lions history to record three touchdown receptions in a game. He joins Hall of Fame RB Doak Walker (3 vs. Green Bay 11/19/50) as the only rookies to accomplish this feat. Fauria set the team record for touchdown receptions in a game for a Lions rookie tight end.
  • Fauria’s three touchdown receptions set a Lions rookie single-game rookie record for a road game. He is only the third rookie in team history with 2 touchdown receptions on the road (Dorn Dibble: 2 at Philadelphia 11/18/51; WR Titus Young: 2 at Green Bay 1/1/12).
  • His one-yard touchdown gave the Lions a 7-0 lead in the first quarter against the Browns.
  • Fauria’s 23-yard touchdown was the longest of his career, and it gave the Lions a 21-17 lead with 10:35 left to play in the fourth quarter.
  • With 2:01 to play in the game, Fauria grabbed his third touchdown, a 10-yard reception, that provided the Lions their final scoring punch and moved the team’s lead to 31-17.
  • On the season, Fauria has recorded seven receptions for 66 yards and now leads the team with five touchdowns. He is the seventh tight end in team history to score 5 touchdown receptions in a season (Jim Gibbons, Charlie Sanders, David Hill, Ulysses Norris, Brandon Pettigrew and Tony Scheffler).
  • Five touchdown receptions are tied for the fifth-most in team history by Lions rookies. He has the most touchdown receptions by a Lions rookie tight end since TE David Hill (5) in 1976.
  • With five touchdown receptions in 2013, Fauria is tied for sixth in the NFL and has the most among rookies.
