Receiving the 2010 Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year award has a special meaning for DT
“Being able to see the fans recognize that I’ve been playing well throughout the year truly means a lot,” said Suh, who was presented the award by Pepsi Vice President of Sports Marketing Jeff Dubiel.
“I think that is the biggest thing. We play for the fans – there’s no question. So it’s exciting to be able to receive a great award from them.”
Suh is in Dallas for Super Bowl XLV, running through the media circuit and mingling with NFL’s finest.
“I’ve actually run into a lot of people who I met at last year’s Super Bowl in Miami,” he said. “It’s really exciting to reconnect with a lot of different people.”
But accepting awards and doing interviews isn’t what Suh ultimately wants to do at the Super Bowl each year.
“I’m looking forward to being here not as a spectator, but being here as a participant in the actual game with all my teammates,” he said.
For now, though, he will have to wait and focus on all the awards and accolades he is receiving after an outstanding rookie year.
“These are things that I obviously hoped to acquire, but going into the season I don’t set individual goals,” said Suh. “I set team goals and then, obviously, individual goals will come after that.”
