DETROIT, MI; May 5, 2014: On June 7, 2014 Detroit Lion captain
Former Detroit Lion Derrick Williams started this tradition in 2010 upon launching his foundation and now his friends and old teammates will continue to host this community event that has attracted thousands of fans. The event will be open to the public and will cost $10 to enter the park (children under 5 are free). The game will have concessions provided by Happy’s Pizza and opportunities to meet some of Detroit’s favorite athletes.
“This year is my third year putting on this game and to see it grow and more fans come every year is great. We’ve got some great partners like Chad Johnson of Lady Jane’s that saw what we were doing and immediately wanted to step up and help us be able to raise more money and grow the event, which allows my foundation to give back more each year here in Detroit,” says Stephen Tulloch. “I launched Operation 55 my first year here in Detroit and this year we’re hoping to adopt 55 schools across Detroit so this game will allow us to help raise the funding to do that and help as many students and people as possible”
“Once I saw what Tulloch was doing here in the community myself and the Lady Jane’s family had to get involved. We love the Lions and we love to see players doing great things out here helping people in Detroit,” said Chad Johnson, CEO of Lady Jane’s. “ We are happy to be involved in this game for the second year in a row and hopefully we can make this bigger and better every year! This year, I’ll be on Team Tulloch again, we have to redeem ourselves from last year’s loss to Nate.”
“When Tully called and asked me to be a part of this event I was really excited. I played on Team Burleson last year and now that Nate is not here, I wanted to help keep this great event and tradition for the team going,” stated Raiola. “I will be donating the money my team helps raise to Operation 55 to help adopt a school on behalf of the Raiola family. Detroit is my home and I am really happy I can help out and make a difference here with Tulloch.”
Participating athletes will include current and former Detroit Lions players, NFL players from various teams throughout the league, NBA and NHL players including Detroit Pistons and Red Wings along with local celebrities and media personalities. The Game will have concessions, music, giveaways, raffles and fun fan surprises throughout the day!
All proceeds from this event will benefit the Stephen Tulloch Foundation and Operation 55. Tickets are available at the gate for $10. Gates open at 1pm.
