On Tuesday December 28th, Drew Stanton made his weekly journey to the fifth floor of Beaumont Hospital to visit the pediatric patients during their stay. Stanton and his High 5ive Foundation have partnered with Children’s Miracle Network for the past few years and as an extension have visited Beaumont the entire season.
Throughout the season Stanton has brought guests along on his visits. However, this Tuesday was extra special as the kids not only were able to meet one Lions’ quarterback, but two were there to visit. Matthew Stafford and his girlfriend Kelly Hall joined Kristin Stanton and Drew as they visited with children for almost two hours. The players chatted with the kids and signed autographs as the patients were able to receive various Lions’ gifts such as key chains, pens, pencils, and stickers. Along with these gifts each child received a football and photograph of each player that the players signed with get well greetings. Many of the patient’s families were also able to receive gifts as the holiday spirit filled the hospital. One father, after receiving tickets to this Sunday’s game, even called it, “a day no one will believe” and “a day that will never be forgotten.”
As part of his commitment to Children’s Miracle Network, Stanton has also hosted “Movie Night” for the patients several times this season. The High 5ive Foundation has also donated many items on the pediatric unit’s “wish list” for the holidays.
