"My goal is to be an every-down back," said Harrison. "My whole life, I've heard I just can't do (certain things) and I've just been proving people wrong. I have no problem with doing that."
How Detroit's running back competition will play out depends a lot on the preseason.
With no offseason and the sudden loss of Leshoure, Harrison and Bell were signed and brought in with zero knowledge of the Lions' personnel or system.
Both tailbacks have fallen right in line, but the live-action work will prove vital for both players.
"I've been able to get a better understanding of my offensive line," said Harrison of his first two preseason games. "How certain guys like to pull, how certain guys like to block - things like that. So I have a better relationship with my offensive line and the run scheme."
Harrison has been able to review the game film to see in a full-speed environment where he went wrong and how he can improve.
"Each offensive lineman likes to do particular things on certain plays," he said. "Watching film has allowed me to see where I made mistakes and see where I can help set up my blocks."
