FROM THE PODIUM
"We were trying to win the game. You could've said the same thing about the Redskins game. Why risk it? Why risk it? Every play is a risk, we are going to try to do our very best to win the game. We didn't make that one. We still had a chance. Our defense turned around and gave up 97 yards after that." -- Head coach Jim Schwartz on why he risked calling a fake field goal when the Lions could have gone up seven points.
"Reggie didn't have an easy time getting started today. I think that had a lot to do with our inability to get points in the second half." -- Schwartz on Reggie Bush's struggles (he finished with 31 yards on 12 carries).
"It is still a long season, we are 10 games into the season. We need to do what we have said from the beginning. We need to plug guys in for those who are injured, we need to improve on our mistakes, we need to correct our mistakes, we need to improve on things that we are weak at and we need to strengthen the things we are good at. No different than the first week of the season. I know it sounds boring but that is where it is." -- Schwartz on whether this loss is a setback.
"We just didn’t execute. That’s what it boils down to. We had obviously a good second quarter ... made some big plays. We didn’t capitalize in the red zone as much as we needed to. That’s something we’ve been really good at. We just have bounce back." -- QB
"It's a call. It's an aggressive call. We're an aggressive team. If it works, we go down and score a touchdown, everybody's talking about how great of a call it was. Hindsight's always 20-20, but we're an aggressive team. He's (Coach Schwartz) going to make the call, we're going to roll with it." -- Stafford on the fake field goal call.
"Anytime you lose, it's not something you go out there with your mindset to do at the start of the day, that's for sure. We just have to learn from this one, move forward. It's tough to win on the road in this league. We had our opportunities today, we just didn't make the plays to get it done." -- Stafford on how disappointing of a loss this is.
FROM THE LOCKER ROOM
"I love it. I think we had it. I don’t know what it looked like. I like it though, I like that call. That was a good call, there was a hole there." -- C
"Obviously they took it the other way. They went down and scored. It was tough. It's hard to swallow right now. I just know one thing: we're in this thing together and this team will bounce back. We're too good in here. Let's go back home. Let's go back home for two games." -- Raiola on whether momentum shifted after the failed attempt.
"I'm not knocking the critics. They study, and you guys study and you all say what you say, but inside the locker room we have to know what we have. And like I said, I can't be having the same conversation with you next week, because time is not out, but it's running thin. There's no room for panic, but it's time for urgency." -- CB
"It was tough. They had high school game on Friday, they had a college game on Saturday and then we played today. The conditions weren’t the best but we still have to play ball and make the plays that come to us and today we left a lot of plays on the field and they took advantage of it and they came out the winner." -- LB
"It’s just the mindset of being aggressive instead of playing real safe, and let’s just get after it. Coach Schwartz always wants to give us a chance to win and get us up, and that was his decision at that point." -- K
"Well I got hit by a 350-pound man. I don’t think I had the first down but regardless that guy made a great play. It was a good call. When you look at it initially there was a huge hole and that guy came from the backside and just made a good play." -- P
