Posted Dec 6, 2009

  • CB William James picked off a Bengals pass and gave the ball back to the Lions at the Detroit 46-yard line.
  • This was James’ second interception of the season and the team's eighth of the year.
  • On the first play from scrimmage after the James interception, QB Matthew Stafford, on a fake reverse, threw a 54-yard touchdown bomb to WR Calvin Johnson. It was Stafford’s 13th of the season, and that set a new franchise record for touchdown passes in a season by a rookie quarterback.
  • Stafford has either thrown or rushed for a touchdown in all 10 of his starts this season.
  • The 53-yard touchdown reception was Johnson’s fourth of the season and 16th since the beginning of the 2008 season.
  • Stafford and Johnson have connected on plays of 53 yards (TD vs. Cincinnati 12/6), 75 yards (TD vs. Cleveland 11/22), 45 and 29 yards (at Chicago 10/4) and 64 yards (at New Orleans 9/13). Johnson now has five receptions over 25 yards this season and 23 since the beginning of the 2008 season. .
