Posted Nov 23, 2009

ALLEN PARK, MI – Quarterback Drew Stanton and his wife, Kristin, and several other family members will help serve Thanksgiving dinner at the Detroit Rescue Mission (3535 3rd Street, Detroit) immediately following the Lions’ Thanksgiving Day game, November 26, 2009. Stanton will go to the Mission directly from Ford Field, approximately 5:00 PM, following the Lions vs. Green Bay Packers game and will be there to serve dinner.

The Detroit Rescue Mission will serve Thanksgiving dinner beginning at 4:00 pm and expects 300-400 homeless people at this location to be served. On Thanksgiving Day, the Mission estimates serving 5,000 meals at our various shelter sites throughout Detroit and Highland Park.

Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (DRMM) has been serving poor and homeless persons in the Detroit community for 100 years.  We serve men, women and children and provide 1,000,000 meals and close to 500,000 nights of shelter per year.  They provide emergency shelter, transitional and permanent housing, as well as a vast array of supportive services.  DRMM recently opened a free clinic to service homeless women and children 24/7.
