Detroit, MI, (10/18/2011);  Lions defensive lineman Andre Fluellen will host the Detroit leg of the Great Amazing Race for youth and adults on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Willow Metropark in New Boston. The race, a hybrid of the popular television show The Amazing Race, is a family friendly race being conducted in various NFL cities in support of Michelle Obama's Let's Move and the NFL's Play 60 initiatives.  The goal of the race is to offer parents an opportunity to engage in a fun, invigorating physical activity with their kid.

Competing in teams of 2, one or both members must be of school age (grades 1-12), teams will race around a 1 mile cross country course while completing a variety of fun activities along the way. Teams will race against the clock and other teams relying on skill and teamwork to complete the challenges. The challenges will include games, relays, obstacle courses and more. The team that completes the tasks and reaches the finish line with the fastest overall time is declared the winner! Contestants should be prepared to get a little dirty and wet - it's part of the fun!

The day will kick off at 1:00 p.m. with the Race for those interested in competing at a leisure pace. At 2:30 p.m., the Race will take place for the more competitive minded teams. At 4:00 p.m.the Victory Party inclusive of food and drinks will be held. All participants will have opportunity to get autographs and take photos with the Andre and his Lions teammates.

The race is for everyone – boys and girls – runners, joggers and walkers – pee wees to adults. Adult/child teams are strongly encouraged to join in the fun, especially father/daughter and mother/son teams. Prizes will be awarded to the race winners: Pee Wee (Grades 1-3), Midgets (Grades 4-6), Juniors (Grades 7-9), Varsity (Grades 10 & older), Adult(F)/Child team, and Adult (M)/Child team. There are spots for only 50 teams in each race and participants are encouraged to register early.
