Kinect for Xbox 360 becomes supporting sponsor of Lions Play 60

Posted Nov 10, 2012

Detroit, Mich. —The Detroit Lions announced today that Kinect for Xbox 360 has become the supporting sponsor of the team’s ‘Play 60’ initiative powered by Playworks Detroit.

Kinect for Xbox 360 provides controller-free games and entertainment that uses your whole body to play. Kinect offers a natural and interactive way for kids to get off the couch and have fun while meeting their 60 minutes of daily activity – particularly when it’s too cold or too hot to be outside.

Kinect for Xbox 360 will be a key component of Lions ‘Play 60’ workshops conducted by Playworks Detroit at the Detroit Lions Academy. The play sessions will kick off at the team’s annual Hometown Huddle event Tuesday November 13 and will emphasize the importance of team building and conflict resolution while being physically active.

NFL ‘Play 60’ is the National Football League’s campaign to encourage kids to be active for 60 minutes a day in order to help reverse the trend of childhood obesity. The Lions have partnered with Playworks Detroit to activate its ‘Play 60’ initiative. Since 2001, Playworks Detroit has served nearly 20,000 students with safe, physical activity and healthy play.

The support of Kinect for Xbox 360 for ‘Play 60’ along with the activation provided by Playworks Detroit align with the
Lions’ Health & Wellness community program, which is an essential part of the Lions’ new Living for the City initiative, focusing on sustainable community health, wellness and development.

Living for the City is the philanthropic program of The Detroit Lions. Its goal is to support transformational efforts that improve the well-being of metro Detroit’s underserved communities.
