DETROIT (December 10, 2013) – Detroit Lions safety Glover Quin announced today his ongoing support for Soles4Souls, Inc., a highly-regarded social enterprise organization dedicated to fighting global poverty through relief efforts and the creation of micro-jobs.

Quin will be on hand to launch a Soles4Souls shoe drive at FanaticU on Tuesday, December 17 from 6 to 7pm (31896 Groesbeck Avenue, Fraser, Michigan 48026).  Fans who bring one or more pair of gently used footwear to donate will have a chance to meet Quin in person and receive a free autograph.

Since 2004, Soles4Souls has collected and distributed more than 20 million pairs of shoes, as well as clothing and other items, in the U.S. and around the world.  Shoes collected during Quin’s FanaticU drive will be used to support the creation of self-sustaining micro-jobs in impoverished nations like Haiti, while also helping to fund the collection, transport and distribution of new shoes donated to Soles4Souls by Skechers and other major footwear brands.

“We are extremely grateful for Glover Quin’s help in delivering our message that everyone can make difference in the fight against poverty and suffering,” said Soles4Souls’ Chief Executive Officer Buddy Teaster.  “The more shoes we collect, the more lives are able to change.  And we could not accomplish this mission without the assistance and dedication from caring professional athletes like Glover.  His voice and enthusiasm brings a new energy to Soles4Souls, and we are thrilled to have his support.”
