Game Notes: Lions at Vikings

  • S Louis Delmas has an infected tooth and jaw which got acutely worse during pre-game warm-ups. His availabilty for the remainder of the game is questionable.
  • DT Sammie Hill recorded his career first fumble recovery with :30 seconds remaining in the first quarter to give the Lions posession on their own 29-yard line.
  • K Jason Hanson capped off a Lions scoring drive with a 38-yard field goal with :04 left to play in the first half. The field goal edged the Lions closer to the Vikings, with the score 10-3. The drive was an 11-play, 60-yard drive.
  • QB Matthew Stafford was 6-of-9 for 63 yards on the drive. He connected with WR Calvin Johnson three times for 48 yards.
  • The drive was set up when CB Phillip Buchanon raced down the field to catch Vikings RB Adrian Peterson who was breaking away for a potential 61-yard touchdown run. Buchanon caught Peterson at the 18-yard line and knocked the ball loose from behind. The ball went into the endzone and was recovered by LB Jordon Dizon for a touchback. It was Dizon’s first fumble recovery of his career.
  • The Lions capped a 15-play, 84-yard drive with an 8-yard touchdown pass from Stafford to TE Will Heller. It is Stafford’s sixth touchdown pass of the season and Heller’s second touchdown catch this year.
  • Stafford has now thrown or run for a touchdown in all seven games he has played this year as a rookie.
  • Stafford was 6-of-9 for 58 yards on the drive and connected with both WR Calvin Johnson (17 yards) and Heller (20 yards) on the drive. He's hit tight ends for touchdowns in each of the past two games.
  • The touchdown drive closed the gap for the Lions at 17-10.
