Ernie Sims Visits with Fellow Reptile Enthusiasts

Posted Nov 19, 2009

On Tuesday, November 17th, Detroit Lions linebacker Ernie Sims spoke to fourth-graders at Symons Elementary School about a passion of his; a passion that has nothing to do with football.

Sims visited the school to discuss his love of animals, especially the reptile variety.

The kids, when they were third-graders in John Evans’ class, wrote to Sims about their classrooms collection of animals and how they hoped that Sims, the fellow animal lover, could visit with them. On Tuesday that visit occurred.

The kids and Ernie talked about and visited with several different animals, including snakes of many sizes, tarantulas, and a hedgehog. Sims brought along three snakes of his own, including two large boas. Ernie, Mr. Evans, and all of the fourth-graders had an excellent time on the visit.
