Team releases 21 players and places CB Chris Roberson on Reserve/Injured List

Allen Park, Mich. - The Detroit Lions announced today that they have released 21 players and placed CB Chris Roberson on the Reserve/Injured list to trim their roster down to the NFL mandated 53-man limit prior to the 6 p.m. league deadline.

2009 INDIVIDUAL GAME TICKETS INFORMATION
Individual game tickets for 2009 Detroit Lions’ regular season games at Ford Field are now on sale. Fans can purchase tickets for Lions’ regular season games on the Internet, over the phone and in person through various Lions and Ticketmaster outlets. To purchase tickets on the Internet, fans can visit either Detroitlions.com/tickets or Ticketmaster.com. For in-person purchases, fans can buy tickets at the Ford Field Ticket Office (10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday) and Ticketmaster outlets. For phone purchases, the following new toll-free number is available for fans to call and purchase tickets: 800.745.3000. UPCOMING IMPORTANT NFL DATES
Sept. 6: Claiming period for players placed on waivers at the final roster reduction will expire at Noon, New York time. Beginning at Noon, New York time, clubs may establish a Practice Squad of eight players by signing free agents who do not have an accrued season of free agency credit or who were on the 45-player Active List for less than nine regular season games during each of any Accrued Seasons. A player cannot participate on the Practice Squad for more than three seasons.
