Third-year defensive tackle becomes third Lions player selected to 2013 Pro Bowl

Allen Park, Mich. - Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh was added to the 2013 NFC Pro Bowl team today.

Suh is the third Lions player this year named to the Pro Bowl, the most by the Lions since the team had three players selected to the 2005 Pro Bowl. He joins WR Calvin Johnson (named starter but will not play) and LS Don Muhlbach on this year’s squad.

Suh has now earned Pro Bowl nods in two out of his first three seasons in the NFL. He is the first Lions defensive linemen to earn two Pro Bowl nods since DT Shaun Rogers (2005-06), and he is the first Lions player to earn a trip to the Pro Bowl in two of his first three NFL seasons since RB Barry Sanders who earned Pro Bowl selections (1990-99) in all 10 NFL seasons.

In 2012, Suh registered 8.0 sacks, his second-highest tally of his career. He had the second-most sacks (most in NFC) among defensive tackles.

After originally selected an alternate, Suh replaces 49ers DT Justin Smith.
