Calvin Johnson's Foundation recognized by the National Basketball Wives Association

NFL All-Pro Athlete Calvin Johnson Jr. and his mother, Dr. Arica Johnson accepted an award on behalf of the Calvin Johnson Jr. Foundation (CJJRF) from Donella Thorpe Co-Chair, The National Basketball Wives Association – Behind the Bench.

TYRONE, GA (April 24, 2014) – NFL All-Pro Athlete Calvin Johnson Jr. and his mother, Dr. Arica Johnson accepted an award on behalf of the Calvin Johnson Jr. Foundation (CJJRF) from Donella Thorpe Co-Chair, The National Basketball Wives Association – Behind the Bench. A check in the amount of $5,000 was presented to the Foundation for its service and support of Metro Atlanta and Metro Detroit communities at the “Touching A Life Luncheon” in New Orleans, February 14, 2014.

After years of hard work and dedication, the CJJRF has developed the following initiatives: 1) Scholarships; 2) Health, Nutrition, and Physical Fitness; 3) STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics; 4) Education; 5) Support for the Needy; and 6) Community Support.

“Our main goal is to assist youth with limited financial resources “catch” their dreams on and off the field. Therefore, providing opportunities that will impact the lives of youth and allow them to rise out of seemingly difficult situations and mature into productive members of society.”
