DETROIT, MI – All-Pro Athlete Calvin Johnson is encouraging corporations, businesses, and companies in Metro Detroit to spend the afternoon with him on November 2, 2013 as he shares the impact his Foundation is making in the lives of youth and families who are less fortunate. Johnson is leading a philanthropic partnership effort to raise money for youth programs in Metro Detroit, through the Calvin Johnson Jr. Foundation, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization he established in 2008.

The mission of the Foundation is to change the mindset of youth from struggle to survival, from poor self-esteem to excitement of life, from dependent thinking to goal setting self-sufficiency, and from hopelessness to empowerment.

After years of hard work and dedication, the CJJRF has developed the following initiatives: 1) Scholarships; 2) Scholar Leadership Conference; 3) Football Camps; 4) Support for the Needy; and 5) Community Support.

This year it will launch a school partnership program with L'Anse Creuse High School, to include a football camp, health fair, education sessions, research, grooming/etiquette, and physical fitness.

"Our main goal is to assist youth with limited financial resources "catch" their dreams on and off the field. Therefore, providing opportunities that will impact the lives of youth and allow them to rise out of seemingly difficult situations and mature into productive members of society."

The Calvin Johnson Jr. Foundation, Inc. is supported by CapTrust Financial Advisors, Comerica, RE/Max, Branns, EA Sports, Detroit Lions Charity, Education Transformation LLC, Cicchinni Custom Clothier, Calvin Johnson Jr., and Calvin Johnson Jr. Enterprises. Inc., NIKE, and individual donors.
