Ameer Abdullah blog: This is a prideful team

Running back Ameer Abdullah blogs about what he’s learned from his rookie season, finishing the season strong and preparing for an outdoor game in Chicago.

Throughout my rookie season, I learned just how competitive the National Football league is. Any team can win on any given day. It all depends on what kind of work you put in throughout the week. It’s encouraging for the future.

We’ve got a good collective group of running backs here. All of us bring something a little different to the table. The second half of the season we really owned that and made something of it. I feel like it’s definitely promising for the running game here.

It’s really important to finish the season strong because this is a really prideful team. It speaks to what kind of city we have. It’s a very prideful city. So, we’re never going to do something just to do it. We’re going to do it to the best of our ability. That’s what finishing strong means to us.

We’re preparing for our first outdoors game since November with some practices outside this week. But as coach likes to say, we’re an indoor team with an outdoor mentality. At the end of the day, it’s football, and the majority of games are played outside. I know for me personally, I’m used to it, so I’m not too worried about it. I know this team is more worried about getting a win than staying warm. We’ll be fine.
