Living for the City is the philanthropic program of The Detroit Lions. Its goal is to support transformational efforts that improve the well-being of metro Detroit’s underserved communities. Living for the City focuses on sustainable health and wellness initiatives and community development. Living for the City supports organizations that pursue integrated approaches to physical fitness, healthy eating, housing, land use and environmental planning, public transportation, community infrastructure, and aligned workforce opportunities.
HEALTH & WELLNESS
The Health and Wellness initiative, presented by Walgreens, supports efforts to increase opportunities for children to participate in safe, structured physical activity, both in school and in communities, and to pursue opportunities for Metro Detroit families to have access to basic health and wellness screenings and healthy, affordable food in their neighborhood.
The Community Development initiative supports organizations that pursue integrated approaches to housing, land use and environmental planning, public transportation, community infrastructure, and aligned workforce opportunities.
Living for the City is not a grant-making program. Rather we direct our financial resources to the implementation of our own initiatives and community-based charitable and cause marketing partnerships on the ground.
